Poverty is a state where one feels totally helpless. It is an extraordinary situation when a man feels absence of fundamental things required to liveĀ one’s life such as shelter, food, clothes, medical facility. There are many reasons of poverty such overpopulation, absence of business, shaky economy, and lack of proper governance.
Poverty brings misery and distress in a man’s life. It cripples one’s ability to get basic life necessities for himself and his family. It is the reason why many kids can’t get education. It is in short, the root of all evils.
Individuals who can’t keep up with the basic requirements of life, lose the privilege of living a peaceful life. They lose all hope. They lose the meaning of being happy.
Now the question is, how could we overcome poverty, or at least minimize it? There are various ways through which this evil can be removed from our society. The only thing required is better management of resources and for that it will require good governance.
However, in order to have good governance, it becomes necessary that we, the poor people, vote into government competent and honest people. Our voting decision must not be marred by our affiliation to some caste or creed. We should rise above all this and vote for competence and honest.
After fixing our governance, it all comes down to us, the individual members of a society. The rich are obligated to share a portion of their wealth with the poor. If every wealthy person started doing that, we can end poverty in a very short time.
But then again, if the rich won’t contribute to the society voluntarily, then it is the duty of government to levy strong taxes on such people. The collected tax should be honestly spent on the benefit of the poor segment of the society.
Following these steps, we can over come this monster of poverty. All it need is a persistent resolve both from individual members of society and from government.
