Supreme Court Bans Ajinomoto Through Suo Moto Action

The Supreme Court of Pakistan bans the use of Ajinomoto, Chinese Salt, all over Pakistan.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, has ordered to ban the sale of Ajinomoto, Chinese salt, all over Pakistan. The Supreme Court’s took suo moto action on the issue when on January 15th, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) banned the condiment due to its severe effects on health.

The grand demand and sale of the Chinese salt and its adverse health effects were discussed in court on Saturday. The three member bench observed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan should also take up the issue in the cabinet.

Chinese salt, which is also called Monosodium Glutamate, is a slow killer that’s worse than alcohol, and nicotine according to a study published in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism.

The study suggests that Chinese salt causes high blood pressure, migraine headache, high cholesterol, hypertension, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, and neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer, Huntington, Parkinson and multiple sclerosis.
