Finally, we can see some pragmatic steps taken by our leaders to lay the ground for sectarian harmony in Pakistan. It was a matter of great jubilations for the nation when the government announced that all religious sects will pray at the same time and all the mosques will carry out the Azan simultaneously.
The order shall be implemented from May 1, 2015. The official decision was made at a high-level meeting chaired by the Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Mohammad Yousuf. The committee included two clerics from each of the four major sects in the capital- Shia, Barelvi, Deobandi and Ahle Hadith.
This novel step to bring all the sects under one umbrella is a huge achievement the impact of which we will witness in near future. But above all, majority of people especially those dwelling in markets are in peace since they don’t have to face the confusion of observing the prayers at the call of Sunni moazzan when they belong to Shia Sect or vice versa.
