Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says that Pakistan is capable of a befitting reply to any aggression on LoC. “Pakistan’s wish for peace should not be construed as our weakness”, said Khawaja Asif.
Earlier Indian Defence Minister Arun Jaitley had warned Pakistan of dire consequences if aggression on the LoC continued. Jaitley had accused Pakistan of disregarding years-long ceasefire agreement by shelling Indian areas.
Khawaja Asif said Pakistan was not in favour of any tension between the two nuclear powers. “Pakistan expects India to act responsibly”, said Pakistan’s defence minister.
At least 13 Pakistani citizens have been killed due to indiscriminate shelling by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) since Monday.
Pakistan’s Army is busy fighting terrorists on its Western border in North Waziristan. “Indian aggression on LoC is an attempt to put Pak Army under pressure”, said a security official.
The two nuclear states have fought four wars in the past. Defence analysts around the world have warned time and again that any small tension on LoC can get both nuclear powers in to a full scale nuclear war.
