A consumer court ordered Dr. Tahir of Children hospital to pay Rs227.2 million for damaging the liver of a three-month-old girl in 2007.
The father of infant Syed Ali Murtaza had filed a case against Dr Tahir Masood, saying that he took his three-month-old baby to UK for liver transplant and spent 2,06,625 pounds at Kings College Hospital, London.
Dr Tahir was found guilty of showing criminal negligence in the treatment of the baby.
The Panjab government had provided 155,000 pounds for the liver transplant of the girl. After being found guilty, Dr Tahir has to pay back this money to the government of Panjab. The rest of the money will be given to the family of the girl for the expenses which were incurred on them during their stay in London and air tickets.
