GEO television has started a smear campaign against PTI Chief Imran Khan after he expressed his distrust over GEO’s negative role in last year’s general elections. The channel has now focused its full attention towards Mr. Khan and is continuously running different segments against him.

Earlier, Imran Khan had lambasted GEO for its role in May 11, 2013 general elections. Khan,  in a news conference had said that GEO’s anachronistic victory speech airing of Nawaz Sharif had played a big role in turning the overall results in favour of him. “The time when GEO aired victory speech of Nawaz Sharif, mostly KPK’s results had been declared and PTI had won them with a huge majority, how could then they air Sharif’s victory speech?”, Khan had questioned. He further said, “this was a ploy to influence the results in favour of PMLN and it did put pressure on returning officers and other officials to turn the results in favour of that party”.

Geo network has rejected all allegations of Imran Khan and says it covered the elections without bias against any party. One of network’s employee is demanding PTI Chief to bring proof against his network and prove it wrong. The network is continuously running a time counter and counting the number of hours since Imran Khan has not replied to their demand.

Imran Khan has vowed to bring his workers on to streets from 11th May of this month to start a marathon of protests. “We, do not intend to bring down this government,” Khan explained. “We want to strengthen democracy and no democracy can flourish without fair and free elections”, he said further. Mr. Khan intends to continue with his protests until the votes of 4 constituencies’ of Lahore be verified using thumb impression.
