India on Saturday successfully test-fired an extended version of the BrahMos cruise missile that can hit its target at 400 km range while carrying a 300 kg warhead. Previously the supersonic cruise missile had a range of 290 km.
The missile was fired from a mobile launcher at Basalpur which successfully hit its target, said a statement from Indian Defence Research and Development Organization.
According to reports, another version of the same missile with a range of 800 km is under development.
On January 19, Pakistan also test-fired Ra’ad cruise missile with a range of 380 km. According to experts, both India and Pakistan are in a race to counter each other in the field of missile technology by bringing the most lethal version of their missile with extended range and payload ability.
