There was not a single day when he came to the office with enthusiasm. His job was an unbearable burden to him which he could not share with anyone. He was not a lazy or an unintelligent person rather he had an excellent academic career. He was admired for being highly educated and for being employed by of one of the prestigious organization in the country. Besides the fact that he was earning a lot of money and respect, he was not satisfied with his job. The reason behind this was that he didn’t LOVE his job. He had no passion for his work as he entered into this profession by mistake.

He had a dream to become a renowned artist. He still remembers the time when he used to take pleasure in drawing. He used to attend art exhibitions as he was fascinated by Art. He wanted to attend Arts College, however he was told again and again by his elders and peers that there is no future of an artist and his future will be insecure if he tried to pursue his career in Arts. Thus, he was led to a mistake due to lack of career counseling, which is still haunting him.

It is not a story of one individual but a lot of people who are suffering for choosing the WRONG profession because of lack of guidance regarding future prospects.

Being members of a collectivist culture, we do a lot of things against our own will due to social pressure. Unfortunately, we are living in a society where we prefer to discuss our issues with our elders and peers instead of seeking expert’s advice. Thus, it leads to the production of unsatisfied and confused workforce.

While choosing a career, we forget how important it is to choose the right career. We must consider the fact that one has to spend more than 8 hours at a workplace and if he is not comfortable with his job then it can cause stress that can lead to depression.

Thus, the need of the hour is to provide expert career counselling to the students at educational institutions so that they are able to choose right career by defining their career path and goals. With the help of career counselling, motivated and passionate workforce will be produced who will try their level best to achieve the company’s objectives which in turn will lead towards success of the business and ultimately strengthening of the economy of the country.
