Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world.Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three. – Prof Stanley Wolpret(1984).
Leadership is the art of organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal. Jinnah was not just a lawyer, he was a great politician and the founder of the Pakistan. This is why he is known as “Father of the nation” by Pakistanis. He was indeed a man who could alter map of the world.
He was the most respected leader of the subcontinent, a man of strong character. He is a role model for those who believe that in a Muslim nation personal character of leadership is as important as other inherit necessary qualities which get radiated to inspire people at large.
Fatima Jinnah wrote in her biography, “Mr. Jinnah was great as a lawyer , once great as a Congressman , great as the leader of Muslims, great as a world politician and diplomat and greatest of all as a man of action. By Mr. Jinnah’s passing away the world has lost one of the greatest statesmen and Pakistan its life giver , philosopher and guide.”
Jinnah was a man of principles, and would never compromise on them. He remained steadfast in the face of strong opposition both from Hindus and Britishers. He gave respect to others and never allowed anyone to tarnish his own self-respect.
“There is no man or woman who imputes anything against his honour or his honesty . He was the most upright person that I know but throughout it all he never as far as I know for one moment attempted to deceive anybody as to what he was aiming at or as to the means he attempted to adopt to get it.” – Sir Patrick Spen.
What made him so great was the fact he had to unify the Muslims of subcontinent on the same platform. He had to convince them on the cause of Pakistan and then made them follow him. This is the true mark of a great leader.
Sadly though, he never lived long to put Pakistan on the path of success and prosperity the way he had envisaged. He died soon after Pakistan’s independence. Pakistan faced too many challenges at the time. The death of Mr. Jinnah left Pakistan orphaned.
The little time he lived after Pakistan’s independence, he worked day and night as Governor General of Pakistan. He didn’t care for his own deteriorating health. He visited far off places, such as FATA and Peshawar and gave the message of hope and unity to the people of those areas.
What we need to do is that we have to learn from his life and work for the betterment of Pakistan. Let’s be the beacon to show the light, let’s be the hope of our motherland , let’s make a developed Pakistan. Let’s be the hope for the Quaid’s dreams.
