Nobel Peace Prize Winners: Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi

Malala Yousafzai who stood up against Talibans’ cruelty and raised her voice for female education, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. She was declared joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize along with India’s famous child rights activist, Kailash Satyarthi.

Apart from being a Nobel Laureate, she will also carry the distinction of being the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

Malala Yousafzai, in a press conference, thanked everyone who supported her in her fight for the rights of female education. She said the Nobel Peace Price was not the end but the start of her struggle for a world of peace, equality and tranquility.

Malala said that winning of Nobel Peace Prize by an Indian and a Pakistani was a message of peace to the people of both countries. She expressed her wish that both Indian and Pakistani prime ministers would be present when she and Kailash Satyarthi would receive the award in December.

“I wish both prime ministers, Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif, would work towards bringing peace to the region”, said Malala.

She said that the recent border tension between both neighboring countries was unfortunate. “Only peace is way forward for both countries”, she stressed.

In the end, Malala spoke in Urdu and in her native language, Pashto, to the people of Pakistan and thanked them for their love and support. She said she felt very proud being a Pakistani.

“I feel so proud and my aim is to make my country proud; I want to show the world that Pakistan stands for peace”, she said.
