Not giving Photo Credits Can Lead to Depression: Dr. Phil

Depression

An Indian guy Niraash, who works in a reputed IT firm in Bangalore went into depression after his friend did not give ‘Photo courtesy’ to the picture he had taken.

When Niraash bought a high profile DSLR, in what is believed to be an intended act to impress his friends and family, he constantly took pictures of people. He considered himself a very good photographer; therefore he would take people’s pictures without them asking him.

One of Niraash’s friends named Bardaash, agreed to pose for him in front of Starbucks Coffee. After taking the picture, Niraash sent that photo to Bardaash. His friend liked the picture and uploaded that on facebook as his profile picture but without giving, ‘Photo credits’ to Niraash.

To Niraash’s surprise there were 175 likes after a few minutes and a storm of comments from Bardaash friends. Many people had asked about the photographer in the comments but Bardash remained silent.

Niraash was quietly observing all this. When the likes crossed 200 and Bardash still kept quiet, Niraash decided to sell his camera on OLX as he waited for 3 hours to receive credits for his talent.

“I waited a lot for that courtesy note. Atleast, he could have clicked ‘Edit’ and updated something like ‘Pic Courtesy’. This way I would have got tagged and even my friends would have liked this pic. Anyway, I think photography is not for me. Selling the camera online, let me know if you want to buy”, said Niraash.

When VOJ contacted Dr. Phil about this issue, he said the absence of photo credits for its rightful owner can lead to depression. “Niraash was absolutely right to sell his camera; I would have killed that Bardaash guy if I were him”, explained Dr. Phil.
