The highly contested by polls of NA 122 constituency are over and according to early reports, PMLN’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has a slight edge over PTI’s Aleem Khan.

Throughout the day, supporters of both parties made sure to bring the voters to the polling booths. However, despite the efforts, the overall turnout was below 30 percent which was at around 53 percent during the 2013 general elections.

Earlier in the day, Ayaz Sadiq claimed that he would win the election by a lead as high as 45,000 votes. Aleem Khan countered this claim saying that he couldn’t predict the future but he was hopeful that he would win the election.

NA 122 seat fell vacant after the election tribunal disqualified Mr. Ayaz Sadiq citing huge irregularities during the general election of 2013. Ayaz Sadiq served as Speaker of the national assembly at the time.
