Mix together Jane Austen’s most famous novel, zombies and tangled romantic relationships and you’ll get the best comedy horror of this year. With a young star studded cast and a script based on the 2009 best-selling novel by Seth Grahame-Smith this is the movie you’ll definitely want to watch. It has hit the movie theaters, and with a martial arts trained, zombie killing Elizabeth Bennet who could resist.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies follows the story of the five young Bennet sisters after a mysterious plague falls upon regency Britain. The dashing Mr. Darcy (Sam Reilly) and Lizzy Bennet (Lily James) must put aside their differences and misunderstandings and get united to defend themselves and their families from the terrible zombie outbreak. Both of them being trained zombie killers certainly bring something new to the much loved story.
Mr. Bennet has a much bigger role in this alternative universe as he trains his daughters to become fearsome zombie-killing ladies, while Mrs. Bennet does the same thing as she did in the original novel – tries to marry the girls off to rich country gentleman. The plot begins as it should – Mr. Bingley moves to the neighborhood, but instead of Jane blushing in front of Mr. Bingley, the girls defend the ball from a zombie attack.
Considering how loved Austen’s novel and all the film versions of it are, this movie is going to be a treat for the fans, and it will also be a chance for people to discover the Austen world in a completely new way. The heart of the story is going to stay the same – Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy will need to learn how to put aside their pride if they want to be together, or in this case be together and defeat the army of the undead.
