According to reports, Qatari Prince Mr. Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, has sent a letter to the JIT inviting them to his palace to investigate him. The prince has also asked the names of JIT members who would meet him and the date of their arrival.

Sheikh Hamad’s letter is a response to JIT’s letter asking him to record his statement through email or fax and to send required documents through courier. The JIT’s letter to the prince had nowhere mentioned that they wanted to meet him at his palace.

The JIT through its letter on 4th July had asked documentary proof from the Qatari Prince that would prove the Sharif family indeed invested money with his family that later ended up in London and used in buying the Mayfair flats.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim has not explained why he was reluctant to visit Pakistan or Pakistan’s embassy in Doha to appear before the JIT. He has also not explained why he would not simply send the documentary evidence through courier.

The JIT reportedly is ready to visit Qatar but they are not willing to investigate the prince at his palace. Instead, they have offered the prince to come to Pakistan’s embassy in Doha. However, the letter of the prince shows that the prince is not ready to be investigated at Pakistan’s embassy.

It is not yet known if the JIT would agree to investigate the Qatari Prince at his place.

The JIT, formed by Supreme Court of Pakistan to investigate corruption charges of Panama Papers against the ruling Sharif family, is scheduled to submit its final report on 10th of July.
