Senator Raza Rabbani of the PPP (Pakistan People’s party) says that the delaying tactics being employed in the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project are worrisome for the future of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan already faced severe energy crises and shunning this great project, that is very important for the future of Pakistan, is disappointing.
Mr. Rabbani held a press conference today where he claimed that his party was not allowed to come into power because some powerful forces did not want the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project to be completed. He said the project was necessary for a better future of Pakistan. He further said that taking back Gawadar Port from the Chinese would also be a major set back to Pakistan’s national interests.
Moreover, Mr. Rabbani asked Mr. Nawaz Sharif, who is going to be the next prime minister of Pakistan, that he should take a firm stance on the drone attacks. Terming these attacks as a violation of national sovereignty, he said that Nawaz Sharif should come clean and inform the country about his future course on this issue.
