Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has appealed in the high court against the decision of Election Tribunal. Mr. Ashraf said that he was not convicted in any court and hence it was bias decision of the Election Tribunal to bar him from contesting the upcoming elections.

Pervez Ashraf said that the unfair rule of guilty unless proven innocent should not be employed in his case. Unless he was proven guilty, he remains innocent, he said.

Earlier Raja Saab’s nomination papers were rejected by the Returning Officer and his subsequent appeal against this decision was also rejected by the High Court Election Tribunal. Raja Saab is contesting elections from NA 51 Gujar Khan constituency.
