The court today sent SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi on a four-day physical remand to FIA. He was arrested on Friday after his pre-arrest bail request was rejected.

After remand orders, he was shifted to PIMS hospital where he is undergoing treatment for undisclosed health problems.

Mr. Hijazi allegedly pressured his subordinates to temper with the records of companies owned by the ruling Nawaz Sharif and his family.

Government has refused to remove Mr. Hijazi from his post despite his arrest. Instead, Tahir Mehmood has been appointed as an acting chairman of SECP.
